Villa Casis

The Villa

Villa Casis is a tropical residence that balances modern and traditional Balinese architecture. Carefully designed to combine the five elements of eastern architecture, Heaven – Earth – Wood – Water – Metal, Villa Casis is a simple yet luxurious haven.

The Residence

The villa is set on 800 square meters of land on a quiet, tree-lined street two hundred meters from the beach. It has become a landmark in Sanur because of its bold yet harmonious design and unique entrance portico.

The residence is laid out over four separate buildings providing accommodation for twelve guests in six bedrooms. All the bedrooms and communal areas are set back, away from the street, leaving the areas of relaxation in the villa peaceful throughout the day. The designers worked hard to incorporate many separate areas that feel secluded from each other while being integral to the villa’s design.

Completed in the summer of 2005, the Balinese architect’s careful use of local materials help create a modern residence that is in harmony with its surroundings. Through careful use of space, color and light the interior spaces change with the time of day until they settle into the glow from the hidden lights that warm the villa with their subtleness.

Furnishings & Artwork

The art throughout the villa was painted by Walter Van Oel. Of Dutch origin, Walter has made a name as one of the foremost modern artists working in Indonesia. His art has been chosen in colour and subject matter to give ambience throughout the villa in keeping with its adherence to the eastern design traditions of fenq sui.

The Bedrooms

The six air-conditioned bedrooms mix modern simplicity with wood and antique furniture and fittings in a chic yet understated way. The ground floor rooms have an open-air bathroom with terrazzo bathtubs and planted gardens. The first floor rooms benefit from a massaging power-shower and open onto private terraces and balconies that offer a panoramic view of their tropical surroundings. All the bedrooms have goose-down and Egyptian cotton bed-linen and toweling robes and are appointed with handmade spa creams and shower condiments.

The Location

Sanur lies on the south-east coast of Bali facing the Lombok Strait. This sleepy fishing village surrounded by rice paddies was Bali’s first tourist destination. It boasts one of Balis longest beaches that are protected by a four kilometer barrier reef offering safe swimming throughout the year.

Perfectly Located

Villa Casis is located in beautiful Sanur, the original Balinese beach resort and still one of the finest beach resort areas of Bali. Whatever your interests Villa Casis is perfectly located, from here you can easily travel to anywhere in Bali or just stay home in complete peace and quiet.

The beach hosts an array of water activities from scuba diving, parasailing, jet skiing, surfing, kite-surfing and waterskiing for all ranges of experience. Lined with the village’s traditional fleet of out-rigger fishing boats colorfully painted to in the local style the beach area is unique to this village and is enjoyed by both tourists and the Balinese alike.

Sanur holds a special place in Bali’s history not only because of it’s past as Bali’s first tourist destination. The village is host to one of Bali’s oldest temples situated in Blanjong, a short walk from Villa Casis, as well as many other holy sites. Furthermore, Sanur has always been at the centre of Bali’s religious traditions. It is home to more priestly families than anywhere else on the island. The Hindu traditions and rituals that give the island it’s unique culture and character are an integral part of village life with regular processions passing down the tree-lined streets towards the temples or the beach. Offerings align the pavements made daily by house owners while the many temples and their guardians play host to ceremonies and village gatherings.

Sanur is on the main arterial route that runs south to north on the island linking the village with the other main destinations of Nusa Dua and Kuta in the south and Ubud to the north. It has a cornucopia of restaurants and shops that offer an array of products that satisfy all tastes and budgets.

The Sanur area has always been at the forefront of new innovations and services but through slow and meticulous development the local government has ensured that the tree-lined tropical character of the village has been retained and ensured that developers have kept the traditional values and aesthetics of the island intact.
