Bali burns boy appeal - Dhani needs our help

Your life can change in a split second, just like young Dhani's...

Dhani will never be pretty but he was unable to eat properly or close his mouth and he is gradually losing the use of his hands which are becoming more as his hand grows at the front and the skin and tendons on the back do not. Already he is unable to pick up small objects and eventually they will cease to function completely. Dhani needs skin grafts from his back to reconstruct his lips so he can eat proper food and, in fact, close his mouth; he needs skin grafts on his hands so he can use them like any normal boy; he needs grafts on his ears which previously were not melted to the side of his face and he needs all the above urgently while his body is still growing and before the damage is irreversible.

This family have been through living hell and desperately needed our help. They sold all of thier possesions to pay hospital bills, including the furniture and now sleep on the floor. The house they own is very basic; Ahmad explained how they had sold everything to pay for his and Dhani’s treatment to date, the only possession they have left is their house which is worth about IDR60,000,000 and I saw no point in forcing them to sell it then we would have the problem of finding a place for them to stay!

When Dhani was discovered by Gloria, Ahmad went to Java for
further surgery following an infection from a poorly fitting
prosthetic leg. Ahmad borrowed IDR7,000,000 from his family
to pay for his treatment in Java which included re-amputation –
the second amputation was due to gangrene! His wife is trying to
get a bank loan to pay the family back as they need the money and
have now called in the loan.

The wife is the only one earning money at the moment and receives just IDR450,000 per month, (the equivalent of USD50 per month) working as a cook/cleaner at a local villa. The situation is putting a terrible strain on their relationship.

Our target was to raise IDR80,000,000 (which is roughly USD8,600 or AUD9,000 or GBP4,300). In
3 weeks we received pledges from individuals and Rotary Clubs in Singapore & Australia that
would give us enough money to help both Dhani & Ahmad
