Living Room, Kitchen and Billiards Area
Villa PoPo was built by acclaimed Newsweek Magazine photographer Charlie Cole and his wife Rosa. The design reflects their vision of elegant light and design flow. As you enter the villa you walk through a gallery of teak framed photographs of Mr. Cole’s and his wife’s past works, some of which are world famous. Descending through the gallery you enter the main living room and kitchen area with it’s 180 degree view of the entire island with Jimbaran Bay in the foreground. Tinted glass and teak doors enable the guest to open the entire room to the view and pool or keep them closed for air conditioned comfort.
The living room has two very comfortable sofas, one of which is wide enough for two adults to sleep on while they enjoy the wide variety of DVD’s or satellite TV programs (30 channels including several movie channels) on the large screen TV. A high end stereo system insures that your music CD’s keep you company where ever you are in the 100 square meter room. Selective lighting has been designed to give the room a warm and relaxed feeling throughout. Across from the living room and running along the entire north side of the pavilion is the kitchen/dining bar area. The kitchen has been designed for entertaining and affords maximum space and ease for preparing meals in the lovely teak and stainless steel area. Appointed with the latest kitchen fixtures and appliances, it features a stainless steel oven and range, large Sharp Refrigerator, stainless steel Sharp Microwave, coffee maker, and blender and other amenities. It’s as easy on the eye’s as is the rest of the house. A black marble bar faces the kitchen and runs the length of it, where guests can sit on six Nakamichi designed teak bar chairs for meals or socializing.
Situated directly in front of the 180 degree view and pool is the billiards area. The 9 foot long table features Iwan Simmoni’s touches, Simmonis provides tables and cloth for the World Billiards Championships and is recognized as the world leader in tables. If you fancy a game it’s a pleasure to play on.
Garden and Pool
The Crown Jewel of Villa PoPo is it’s Infinity Edge Pool and Bale. Designed to wrap around the entire front of the villa the pool connects Jimbaran Bay to the villa from wherever one sits inside or outside the villa. The pool is lined with a beautiful variety of bougainvillea that contrast wonderfully with it’s deep blue tones. The pool is 135 cubic meters of refreshing coolness and solitude, and the constant 1.5 meter depth insure that guests can relax wherever they are in the pool. In addition, the pool has a Davy salination unit that keeps the pool bacteria free without the use of chlorine and delivers an extremely clean and fresh water feeling. Resting along the infinity edge, guests can enjoy the wonderful sunsets and watch them drift into the sparkling twilight of Jimbaran Bay and the rest of Bali below. Drinks are especially relaxing in the pool along this edge. A natural stone shower at the pool’s edge affords a cool and private wash anytime while teak sun beds await the guest situated just beyond the bale at the tip of the pool.
Two separate seating areas adorn the poolside, on the left a stone patio area allows guests to recline in comfort in a high quality rattan rocking chair or lounge chair. While on the adjacent side of the pool, a dining table and chairs with umbrella canopy is a great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner by the pool.
For more elegant dining, the Bale hosts a teak table for six, which is situated elegantly along the far side of the Infinity Pool. Enjoying a dinner at the Bale in the cool breeze with the city lights sparkling down below is a memorable experience. For your comfort, the Bale is equipped with a modern, variable speed, ceiling fan that also contains a dimmable light to keep your evenings cool and the mood right. It’s also a great area to read and relax or if you’re in a mood to work it offers an electrical outlet for laptop power sources.
